Happy Birthday to Me With A Gift for You

Well here comes 2014 whether we're ready or not.  It's amazing how after you hit fourty the years fly by.  I can still remember when I couldnt wait to be 13, then 21, and then oh my where did the time go.
January 6th is my day, I have a request to make... I have only received one card since I started making cards a few years back and it was from a Canadian friend Judy Curtis.  Thanks Judy. This is the lovely card she made for me.
So now I have a request, since my birthday is coming up...Could I have my friends who craft and make cards to send me a card or tag, your choice and I will hang or tack them up in my craft room as inspiration, please... At the end of January, I will then draw from the names a prize winner for a package that I will be putting together through the month. Stamps, embellishments, who knows what will be included.  So here is my name and address, surprise me...Tag or card
BIRTHDAY is January 6th...

Remember you have til the end of January to send me a card.  Thanks Bunches and Hugs
I received two more cards, yay...The card on the left is from Sammy and the right is from Carole. Thank you so very much, I love them...
I have been feeling so unproductive here lately, I cant get in the mood to sit down and create at all...Just feeling blah all I want to do is sleep.  I feel so far behind in everything but just cant get in the mood.  What an awful feeling...

Happy Holidays

First I want to say I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving.  We are so blessed with a wonderful family, and not having to go hungry and be without. I Thank God for his bountifulness and all he does for us everyday.

I do a lot of ordering online for my crafting supplies.  My back and legs don't do too well these days, and even using my walker wears me out.  I hate being pushed in a wheel chair because its just not fun. So I am constantly ordering online so it seems.  One of my favorite crafting goodies is my dies, oh I think I love them all, and of course I love glitter and my inks, flowers, papers.  Oh I could go on and on...
I recently was online and got a message where something had been shipped, well now, I couldn't remember ordering, so I got checking it out.  An order from two months ago had shipped, and I wont say where from, but I can GUARANTEE I wont be ordering from the company again. It was the 2nd order with them that I had placed, I recall the first order took like two weeks.  When it comes to my toys, I don't like to wait, like the commercial says, its my money and I want it now. If they had only told me that there would be a delay, I could have been prepared.. Sorry, its just the way I am, impatient.. And they are having a black Friday sale, I wouldn't order if it was 80 % off, no I wont order...

I wanted to share with you a company I recently found by accident. They are out of Lakewood, New Jersey and new to Facebook.  I have ordered from them and they ship FAST, their prices are low, and shipping fee's LOW, and they carry MANY brand's of dies. And its VERY easy to navigate their online store.  If you go to their FB page, please tell the I (Patti Doss) sent you. Sign up for their mailing sub and they will send you a percentage off in your email. Like their page and start saving...Till next time..Hugs..Patti

Shabby and Vintage

I must admit I believe shabby and vintage is my favorite type of cards and tags to make.  Why?  I don't really know except I like the look and feel...
This card I made this evening I will be putting in two challenges, Word Art Wednesday  Challenge #104 Anything Goes. And also over at House of Cards Month Four: Shabby and Vintage.
I began by folding a 11 1/2 x 8 1/2 sheet of pale yellow card stock. I then layered a green piece of card stock, and  topped that with white card stock. My top layers are from The Paper Studio from the paper stack called Mirabelle..

I cut and distressed the edges with my scissors, the color was like a pale rust.  The next layer,  I layered horizontal was a deeper rust,  I would call a rust red. Again distressing with scissors.I kept layering, finishing off with a flag cut freehand with the deeper red rust color.

I had a lace flower I had made and distressed with Tim Holtz distress ink Vintage Photo, I added a onyx type button from LeBouton, and a stick pin I made of different gem beads. Used the hot glue gun to add on.
To add a little extra bling I added some half pearls in white.

Thanks for looking.. xoxo Patti

Current Challenges

Well after my card fairies got done playing tricks on me, I finally found my bird. So now I can get on with my challenge's.  I think the Hummingbird is one of God's most beautiful creation's.  I look forward to the spring when they arrive and love to watch them as they feed and play...Of course here in Ohio this is the time of year we see them leaving for warmer climate.  The wing I added as a reminder of the Angels who watch over us, they as well intrigue me so!

The items I used for my project was, Unknown paper's, Lace Hummingbird B194 from Cheery Lynn Designs, Mesh Hearts die B319 also from Cheery Lynn Designs. I love their dies because of the clean cuts. I also used my Butterfly Circle die from Spellbinders, the angel wing was a cut from an embossing folder from Tim Holtz Alterations. And I used watercolor pencils... I am entering my current card in challenges at:

Here We Go Again

Here I go again. Those durn fairies are at it again!  I worked so hard to color this bird for a challenge, and somehow the bird flew away.  I know it's the fairies playing their little tricks on me, but I was really making progress and went for my bird to apply it, and it just disappeared. I told the fairies I was tired, sang to them and told them "I give" but it didn't do the trick this time. I searched everywhere I thought possible, so I told them I will be back tomorrow, I sure don't want to have to redo the bird.  Hopefully if the fairies return her tonight I will have a new challenge in tomorrow.  Hugs...Patti

Card Fairies?

Ok, I seriously think there just may be card fairies, you think so?  I so love to go to my card nook and play but, I think these little fairies play games on me. Take for instance, today I used some Tim Holtz distressed ink pad, and after I was done, I went to put the lid back on. Do you think I could find that lid?  I wasted 20 minutes LOOKING for the lid.  Yes, I got fed up and I said "I dont think this is funny anymore, I need the LID, I give up." I was ready to put it in a baggy...
So I then looked under my chair, THERE was the lid. After 20 minutes, yes 20 minutes, they finally gave in. I bet those ornery card fairies have been to see YOU too, and you never realized it was them. So NEXT time, just tell then you give up, and you too will find what your looking for...Those silly guys... I believe, I really BELIEVE...

The Card Nook

I guess this lady is behind the times of today.  So I thought it best to create my own blog where I could share the cards I make and some techniques I have learned along the way. All of this blogging stuff is new to me so bare with me as I learn to blog and post along the way.
The cowgirl card was made for a friend who is accident prone.  And the baby card was made for my daughter in laws baby shower.
